Kia ora, I’m Alex!
I make short time travel videos that bring New Zealand towns, museums and heritage places back to life through storytelling, humour, AI-assisted visuals, history and a time-travelling umbrella.
Becoming a parent to a Kiwi son made me want to understand Aotearoa New Zealand more deeply, especially the places and stories that do not always get the spotlight.
I’m not presenting myself as a history expert; instead I’m a curious traveller learning with the audience as I go, using each episode as an invitation to explore the history behind these places.
I also lead CONICAL, an Auckland creative technology studio working across AI, virtual reality, animation, games and interactive storytelling.

Time Travel New Zealand is created by Alex, an Auckland-based filmmaker, immersive storyteller and founder of CONICAL. The project combines historical research, location visits, archival references, AI-assisted visual development and cinematic storytelling to reimagine moments from New Zealand’s past in a way that feels accessible, emotional and easy to share. Alex is open to interviews, school and museum conversations, heritage collaborations, local history partnerships and commissioned storytelling projects.
